When we planted this cactus in the fall we had no idea it would be so beautiful in the spring! The thought was more along the lines of, we live in the desert, lets plant a cactus, hopefully we won't kill it. The flowers only last one day so day so we must enjoy them right now. (We know this because one flower opened up two days ago. It's gone now.)

Wow, that's gorgeous! I think part of the beauty of the desert is that the weirdest looking plants can all of a sudden have those spectacular blossoms!
That is really cool! To bad it doesn't last very long. I'm getting sad b/c all the beautiful tulips infront of my house are falling apart. But I did get pictures. I think I will post them!
