The Castleton ABC’s of 2006
Autumn Splendor Roast-Catherine had a lot of fun in the kitchen this year and even made-up a really yummy recipe!
Blog- We started a family blog. Here it is
Chicken pox- The beginning of the year brought a chicken pox epidemic to our house. Why did we bother with immunizations?
Desert- We started the year in the manicured desert of Arizona. In August we moved to Twentynine Palms, CA. This desert is 100% natural!
Explosions- Living on a military base has made explosions very real. Loud booms and shaking walls are common occurrences now.
Fellow- It took a few years of hard work but as of Dec 9th, Keith is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry!
Girl Scouts- Jessie and Caroline started brownie and daisy scouts (respectively) and love every minute of it!
Half marathon- Keith has done a lot of training this year. He ran two half-marathons and took third place in one.
Imagination-Naomi’s is quite vivid. She often amuses us with stories of flying and animals talking. To her it is real.
Jump rope for heart-Not only did it bring back elementary school memories for Catherine, but Jessie was a top fundraiser at her school!
Kindergarten- Caroline started kindergarten this fall. She had a rough start switching classes twice within the first month. All is settled now and she loves school!
Leotard- Naomi spends most everyday dressed in a leotard. She loves music and dancing, but she will wear a leotard no matter what she is doing!
Moving- Yep, we moved yet again! Don’t worry; we plan to be here about three years. That will be a record for us!
Naps- Catherine and Jeffrey love them. We wish Naomi did, too!
Organization- Something we are always working on improving in our ever crazy house.
Pregnancy- Catherine spent most of the year building the next member of the Castleton clan, due to arrive mid February 2007.
Queen of wheat- (As Naomi calls it) is the favorite breakfast food in our home.
Rocks- Caroline turned into a mountain goat when she saw all the awesome rock formations in Joshua Tree National Park.
Socks- Catherine had a fun time making frilly girly socks. She even sold a few.
Tile-We learned a lot when we tiled our kitchen and bathrooms in AZ. We even learned how to stain the grout when we decided we wanted it a different color.
Uniforms- Keith is back in the Navy uniforms after finishing a year “civilian style” at his residency at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in AZ.
Vocabulary- Jeffrey didn’t say much when the year started but now he could talk your ear off. It’s amazing how fast vocabulary develops!
Waldo- We had so much fun watching Waldo and her babies (a hummingbird family) in the tree in the front yard of our house in AZ.
X-ray- Jessie had lots of these just before she ended up with a cast on her leg this fall. We still don’t know what happened but she seems to have healed up just fine. No more limping.
Young Men- Keith is now president of the young men’s group at church. He needed more “man” time as our house can be quite girly.
Zoom- The year has gone so fast! (or maybe that was just Jeffrey’s race car!)
